Which option is right for me?
There are a couple of questions you can ask yourself to help choose the best training option.
How hands-on do I want to be in my dog’s training?
For those owners who want to take the lead in their dog’s training journey, ‘traditional’ in person sessions are a great way to go. I come to you, we work in your home and local area, and I teach you the techniques you’ll need to modify your dog’s behaviour. This route requires time and effort on your part, and the whole family will need to be committed to the process for the dog to succeed, but the rewards will more than make up for it. Be prepared to reach a whole new level in your relationship with your canine companion…
If time is in short supply or you’re looking for a more hands-off approach, then try an intensive training course. You leave your dog with me and go about your day, safe in the knowledge that your concerns are being taken care of.
How complex is the problem?
Is the behaviour that needs tackling a minor ‘bad manners’ issue, or is it something more serious?
Trying to train your own dog when they’re displaying severe behavioural issues can be painful and overwhelming for owners. If you’re feeling out of your depth, then consider an intensive training course. Your dog gets a new environment to work in, away from its usual associations and triggers, and you get to take a step back.
Please note that with more complex cases, e.g. anxiety and reactivity, we’ll always start with a behavioural assessment. I need to come to your home initially to ensure I understand the full extent of the problem and the potential causes before we can move on to how we address them.
